Re: Sharkskin vs Adrenalin

I will just add when I did my scuba dive ticket last year we went on a training dive in Lake Pupuke in Auckland in the middle of May and I wore my Sharkskin under my wet suit (socks, long pants, and top) and I got out of the water after over an hour and wasn't feeling any cold where as the rest of ...

Re: Have you ever break 24T from K-labs

Yep, broken many of them in the past! First one was when I stopped on the water at Orere to have a chat to AW and complained about how I hadn't caught anything and he said "sure are a lot of them out there today, my bin's full already". I grabbed my 24T and started smashing the back of his kayak, bu...

Re: kahawai recipes

If you're lucky and you don't bleed them, you *might* end up with no or very little dark meat. If you bleed them your "luck" just happens to increase to very close to 100%:) I love fresh kahawai fried without batter and only Tuscan spice on it, but agree about the curry. My wife also makes a fish cu...

Re: As the song from "The Monkees" goes......

Interesting Hainesy, I've tried a few other methods, but always end up back at SB. Might have to give the 100% effort a go to know for certain.

Love to learn more about the "K Labels micro jig rod", that a new brand :)

Re: Bilge pump trolling motor (WIP)

Nice Rob, job well done it seems. Just something on the amp draw, it will increase drastically under load. Looks fairly calm where you are and your daughter certainly does not add much weight to the equation. With my weight though and the conditions I tend to encounter on the ocean up here, I doubt ...

LOL, nice to read someone else's misfortunes :) Sorry...

Despite multiple warnings on this forum, I refuse to leash my rods ever again. Too much mayhem with leashes around my legs if I do happen to turtle.

Did you get usage rights from whoever you stole that first photo from? :)

Re: New member

Welcome Team, thats a solid fishing platform and a great one to get you out there, just be very careful of the currents in and around that area, often you can hear the water change in minutes, but yes all around that coast line can fish very well, Waitawa regional park is a nice safe launching spot...

Re: Chinese reels - Opinions? Experiences?

Blah, I don't approve of paying excessively for a label, but apart from that my experience with everything else in life has been that you get what you pay for. Why that would be any different in a harsh salt-water environment, I don't know? Can't speak from experience (I do own a shishamo or somethi...

|( |( :| ;) Yeah mate, would love to go out with you more than anyone... In the past I've been afraid to commit to a day beforehand because if the weather even just frowns at me on the morning, then I prefer to tail it back to the safety of Waitawa park. Kind of over that now, so would love to tag ...

Nice. I find a little gaff easier for kahawai from the yak.
Yep, got one in the back of the kayak - just not very used to using it or remembering to use it.

Big Day

Woke up at 4:15 yesterday morning and headed out to Kawakawa bay. The Waitawa Park gate only opens at 6:00am, so I drove on past to Kawakawa bay boat ramp, but with my compulsory toilet stop and whatnot, I only launched at 6:30 anyway. What a lovely morning!!! Inside the bay was flat as a mirror. I ...
