Re: Narrow Neck - 07/01/18

Wait, so not coming up with a solution means more pastries, muffins and champagne luncheons?
Hmm...

Re: Toasted FF Battery

In case anyone happened to read that completely off-topic blog post of mine, I lasted 7 days on the water fast and managed to lose 9.7kgs. Not a bad start to the year!!

Re: Toasted FF Battery

Yeah, Helix 7 is humminbird as well, but with GPS and 7" screen. I think 12V is only like 20-40% charge? Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I suspect your battery's not going to last very long. Anyway, I do 6+ hour stretches on the water and then a 9AH battery takes strain with this Helix 7.

Surely not... 1.3AH will last 1.3 minutes on my Helix 7:) Did you maybe get the same with @ 9AH?

Good stuff, I hope the sentencing will be appropriate and not just a slap on the wrists.

Re: Prowler 13 vs Prowler 4.5 Elite

I had my 2 prowlers for more than 2 years and never got used to it even though I was going out multiple times per week back then. What I will say though, is that if I'm caught out in bad conditions then the 4.5 is a great kayak to be in. It breaks through waves very well and no amount of wind can st...

but maybe that was just him!
And me.

Come to think of it, I'm sure some time ago there was a post on here where a few people commented about the 4.5 being "tippy", of course followed by the usual "it's just you" banter.

Re: Prowler 13 vs Prowler 4.5 Elite

Haven't paddled the 13, but I do think the 4.5 is a pretty fast kayak. Not that stable when you put my weight on it, but lighter captains seem to be happy with it.

Re: Kayak Trailer

Nice work Viking, I've got this at the moment and you're right, it's such a pleasure rolling the kayak from the trolley onto there. My Predator XL also weighs around 50kgs and this is just SO much better than rooftop. 20170811_172434.jpg I've seen some videos with guys using the PVC piping and am th...

Re: Electric Motor recommendation for the Reload

I think I built up a bit of a reputation for getting myself into trouble on here a few years ago and that was mostly because of stupid things I did with electric motors. What i can tell you is that those things exert a fair bit of force and when things go wrong with that motor zipping up and down ne...

Re: Newbie, me :)

Yes we may have to muzzle them if the water visibility is too good, we might scare off the fish :o All I know is you shouldn't think you've got the fish in the bag once it gets tired and seems to be coming towards the kayak more easily. Once it gets close and sees that mouth it's GOING to take anot...

Re: Newbie, me :)

I've read on the Old Town Predators Facebook group that the industry standard when it comes to max capacity is that you should not go over 75% of it... Dont know if that's just Old Town's excuse, but worth reading up about. The other thing is that adding the scupper plugs might make your boat a litt...

I did think you were being a little optimistic :)

Bad timing, just 2 days ago I offered my 40AH LifePo4 battery to someone on here, which he's going to use for his FF. At only 6.2kgs, it would have been ideal for your situation.
