Re: Fishing Kayak Newbie~ Is this a good fishing kayak?

Not being a Kiwi myself, I don't feel quite as strongly about "must be made in NZ" as a lot of others on here do. HOWEVER, it is generally true that you get what you paid for and the question is, do you really want to be out there on the water with your life dependent on some lower quality replica? ...

Re: Greenland Paddle

Okay, I give up... For months (might be years) I've ignored this topic, but it just keeps on coming back. So I clicked on it and looked at the last page's topics assuming you guys have solved world hunger and have moved on to discussing how to preserve Trump's toupe after his eventual demise. But no...

Re: NEW KAYAK FISHING STORE IN NZ

There is already a Hobie retailer/agent in NZ - http://www.nzwatershed.co.nz/ The best place (most population) would be to base it in Auckland. Sorry Mental, I'm quite surprised by those answers of yours. Firstly, Rob's store, Kayak Adventures sounds much more like what MAXGARCIA has in mind than W...

Re: AKL Harbour Bridge 7 March

Tow trucks in Johannesburg operate in gangs. They call them associations, but if you take a job from another association's member, they'll take you out... So I think it qualifies as gangs. Anyway, these guys do exactly that, they sit around all over the place and at peak times, drive around, looking...

Re: Ruakaka 24, 25 March

Nice... Yep, I generally drop one rod right next to the kayak and keep another in my hand with which I cast and retrieve and the verdict is still out as to which one catches more fish. Quite often I feel it's the one I leave to drag underneath the kayak by itself.

It is unfortunate, but we are the cyclist of the ocean. More vulnerable and always going to lose the fight if we play chicken with the motorists.

Re: AKL Harbour Bridge 24/Feb

That's interesting. when I used to fish from the side, I had quite a bit of success with a recurve hook when leaving the rod in a rod-holder or tree-stump for the fish to catch itself. But if I remember correctly, the ones I used back then looked more like the one on the right. In the past year I've...

Re: Started a trolling motor build on my Reload.

Actually I may be completely wrong. I just measured the distance on Google Maps from Waitawa Park to a place I went to when I had that amp meter on. It's over 3kms in each direction and of course I didn't travel in a straight line like on the map. I had a 40AH LifePo4 battery at the time and I'm pre...

Re: Fish Seekers - Anyone here tried one?

Got mine too. Perhaps I'm not understanding it well but we clip the mainline and leader to the respective holes? I don't trust the holes as being strong enough and will be making sure there's a line connection between the clips so if a hole breaks, we don't lose the lure/fish, etc. Is there an illu...

Re: Fish Seekers - Anyone here tried one?

Ordered 3 of the little critters. 5 days to get delivered on their standard global shipping, not bad at all !! Weekend weather is not looking promising, but I'm pretty keen to give this a go. Got one set up to 4.5 meters and I suspect it's going to work wonders there on the Clevedon flats launching...

Re: Started a trolling motor build on my Reload.

I'd be really surprised if you got 24kms from a 120AH battery. I would have guessed less than 10kms. Someone on this forum, I forget who, loaned me an amp meter that measures actual amps used ( this, but different model ) while it's connected in the circuit between the battery and motor. Might be wo...

Now I just need a way to slow down my motorized kayak and Andrew's jetski to tick below 2mph.

Oi, I want one now! Not even for the 25 meters, but just to be able to get my softbait down to 6m will be worth it.
