Re: Transducer

There are heaps of threads on here about this question, pretty much the #1 solution, if you can't use a scupper mount, is to shoot the signal thru the hull, rather than have an arm with a FF attached. I did a similar shoot thru install a while back, have a read of this post. https://www.kayakfishing...

Re: Transducer mount Question

Def get a tube much easier to apply with a caulking gun . I did a similar install myself made a foam well for the transducer to sit in worked pretty well and not too messy either.

More free stuff

Also further to the other post I have this also surplus to requirements.

Bought this just for the power cable a few years back and forgot I had it.
So needs a power cable and transducer, so if someone has those but no headset! Hey presto it’s yours...

Free to a good home

Hi chaps and chapesses - sorta up or side graded to a hook4 so have my old hummingbird set up as surplus. It worked last time it was on my yak about 8 months ago but it probably needs a new power cable and some tlc. Comes with everything you need minus battery. But has scupper plug adapter set, Moun...

Re: HDI Install in Stealth

Not sure about the stealth and operating space to install, but I recently installed the same FF and transducer into a prowler, you might find some of this handy https://www.kayakfishingnz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22925 Perhaps using a foam insert to create a well for the Selleys and transducer...

Re: Cable and Clam Glands

So the new FF finally got a test whilst up north for Labour weekend. Very happy with the set up, transducer image clear as so happily no bubbles were caught under whilst fitting into the selleys.. although I might have forked out some extra $$ for a larger screen had I tested the unit out whilst sit...

Re: Cable and Clam Glands

Finished this little project off with the dry bag with waterproof "bulgin" connectors, pretty happy with result just need to try the whole thing out on the water, just hope I haven't trapped any bubbles under the transducer but fairly confident I didn't. Few pics of the final set up. https://uploads...

cheers for that, ended up doing something similar, actually posted some pics on another thread I started called Cable Glands.
All seems good tho yet to get the yak wet and try the thru hull set up, always seems to blow up anytime I can get out...

Re: Arkles Bay

Nice TR and a solid result, sometimes when the baitfish are being chased they head for objects like logs, weeds or kayaks. Had it happen to me a few times so perhaps whatever the ky were feeding on found you attractive, hence them popping up where you were? Mainly used my FF to find structure rather...

Re: Cable and Clam Glands

Had a good hunt around for these Index Marine waterproof plugs on the web, and couldn't find a retailer in NZ, but this place [urlhttp://www.aquavolt.com.au/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=bulgin&search_in_description=1&InputGo.x=0&InputGo.y=0&InputGo=GO[/url] in Aussie sell them so will most li...

Re: Cable and Clam Glands

Just another question, saw this http://dizzybigfish.co.uk/diy-waterproof-battery-bag-for-kayak-fishing/ and thought it was a neat idea as my power lead terminals have always corroded over time and thought this might be a better solution as I want to store the battery inside the kayak hull. The only ...

As suggested Burnsco had just the thing, wasn't cheap tho, but looks solid and waterproof. IMG_5302.jpg IMG_5303.jpg IMG_5304.jpg IMG_5305.jpg The Transducer seems pretty happy in its new housing, might have over done it with the Selleys All Clear tho? Re: Cable and Clam Glands

Thanks Chaps - The Scanstrut ones look more waterproof to me as they have that rubber bung type of thing built in. Although I prefer the fact the cable comes out sideways on the one on the viking site, maybe there one with both the bung and the ability for the wire to come out at a right angle? trip...
