Re: FS: Jet ski

That was quick! We’re looking at boats now for the same reason. In an ideal world, I’ll keep the ski as it’s such an efficient fish hunter, but that is to be negotiated [emoji3]

Re: White Sturgeon via kayak in Idaho

nice video. he did well to land the big fish on that gear. love how he was super stealthy then cast a gopro in to the water! think i would have used heavier gear given the weed, size of fish and the $500 camera attached to the line.

Good, honest report. Keep em coming. Where have all the fish gone? Assuming they were there in the first place.

Re: Gulp pack vs tub

I've assumed the tubs to be cheaper per piece, but a quick check has proved this not to be the case. I suppose you're getting heaps of Gulp juice with the tubs. It must be liquid gold, the leatherjackets seem to think so anyway! My personal gripe was that I can't get my preferred shape (jigging grub...

Re: Arkles Bay

TB - nice TR! That is one fat kahawai, it's almost snapper shaped! Wind watching does become a bit of an obsession. As for fish finders, it all depends. If I'm struggling, I'll stop and fish any sign that I can convince myself might be a snapper. Other times, I'll wait for big balls of bait and snap...

What about something like this: https://www.marine-deals.co.nz/other-lu ... chard-lure

or for more flutter, these: https://www.marine-deals.co.nz/trout-lu ... ning-lures

I'd swap the trebles out for assist hooks.

Re: Are we loosing the "brotherhood "??

I think this forum always gets a bit quieter over the winter months, but I don't think it means anything. Kayak fishing is alive and well!

Well done FOM. A good day.

Re: filleting - I'm good, but I'm slow. A 60cm snapper takes me 14 minutes to get boneless, skinless fillets, I timed it! This alone is a reason not to bring too many fish home :)

Re: Weather This Week

Around here, low tide, start of season, about 3 metres. I don't use a kayak as a diving platform, but a kayak would be ideal.

Re: Are we loosing the "brotherhood "??

Why did you start kayak fishing? At the time, I was living in southwest England and doing quite a lot of rock fishing. Spots were limited and I didn't enjoy standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the riff-raff [emoji3]Kayak fishing was an escape from that. Around the same time, I realised that being afl...

Re: Weather This Week

So I went fishing. Took me a little while to find the fish, then had a nice fat pannie. https://vgy.me/RgUTNU.jpg Followed by a couple more. https://vgy.me/WPbq4e.jpg https://vgy.me/Ezj9rA.jpg Then I caught one of these just for FOM :D https://vgy.me/kVxIx8.jpg The wind dropped to zero and the fishi...

Re: Are we loosing the "brotherhood "??

I've obviously ex-communicated myself from the brotherhood, but I've had unforgettable experiences while kayak fishing and think that kayak fishos lead the way in taking up new gear and techniques, so useful people to know. On the differences mentioned in the article, I've often thought that's cool,...

Re: Weather This Week

How do you slow down your drift if the current and wind are going in the same direction? With that combination in the Firth I think I was drifting way too fast. I don't think you can without some form of propulsion. Motorised propulsion would do more harm than good in shallow water in terms of catc...
