Re: Wanted: Cobra VHF belt clip

I also found an issue with the charger as it doesn't align properly with the battery terminals, and hence doesn't charge. I had that too.Think I ended up bending the electrodes out a little bit. Just ordered an Icom. May as well get my wages paid direct to Marine Deals and cut out the middle man ;(

Re: Wanted: Cobra VHF belt clip

Thanks HookiT. I've emailed Cobra USA and they said they would pass the email on to the relevant person. I'm not too hopeful. May take the opportunity to upgrade as I've never been that happy with the radio. It's fine for short distance communications, but it struggles to pick up Nowcasting etc.

Wanted: Cobra VHF belt clip

Long shot, I need a replacement belt clip for my Cobra HH350 VHF. They sell them in the US for $5, but won't post to NZ. NZ price is $35! It's not the money, it's the piss take that bothers me! Has anyone got one on a broken radio they could send me? Cheers. https://www.marine-deals.co.nz/replacemen...

Re: Yummy/Awful uncommon fish

Giant Periwinkle, I had to google that, but if you're looking for something similar, in about 20 ft of water just of the rocks on the NE side of the Noises Islands, there are big snails about the size of oranges, that look like they might be the NZ version of there Giant Periwinkle. I've eaten them...

I'm not qualified to answer, but checkout the Predator PDL. It looks bloody awesome. If you ask some questions about this yak, you will get some replies as at least two forum members own one.

Wanted: Railblaza Tracport Extrusion

Need 35 cm + length for a little project. No fittings required, just the extrusion. If anyone has any offcuts laying around, let me know. Happy to pay postage etc. Cheers.

Hello from across the water (Parua Bay). Hainesy is the guy to talk to about fishing in that area. I fish around Ruakaka in the summer months and usually do well with pannies.

If you're anchoring on sand, have a look at the Cooper anchors. Well worth the money.

Re: Anyone been out lately

I think it’s hard going at the moment. Up here, water temperature has dropped several degrees in a matter of weeks. I’ve struggled to get a feed on my last two trips. Hate to say it, but the guys using bait do seem to do better at this time of year.

Re: FF battery showing 12.6 - 12.8 V

Seems OK in that respect. Doesn’t fall much lower than the voltage it starts out with, but I’m twitchy because my Humminbird does not cope with sudden power outage very well at all.

FF battery showing 12.6 - 12.8 V

My battery is showing 12.6 - 12.8 V when connected up to my Humminbird. It used to be around 13.5 V. It's a 12V, 12ah SLA. Time to replace it yet again?

Re: Introducing my new battleship old town PDL

I appreciate it's a lot of money for a fishing kayak, plus for those of us not built like Arnie, a trailer would be close to essential, but it's a drop in the ocean compared to buying/running a boat or jetski. WaterHornet - keep us updated on how you go with it :)

Re: Introducing my new battleship old town PDL

If I was going to buy another kayak, it would be the PDL, no contest. It may happen as my Mrs is talking about getting back in to kayaking as a family activity.

No, but neither are they a massive hindrance to getting back in the yak. I tried it.
