I'm same as above. I flip yak, to get excess water out of rod holders etc...then sit back right side up on trolley & by the time I've farted around packing everything away & changing into dry clothes its pretty dry. then up onto ute.

Re: Kapiti Coast - new to NZ

Welcome Landsick_Alex. Look forward to hearing some reports from down kapiti.

Plenty of advice/info on this site to assist you, however some may be a little dated as most people seem to have gone to the various groups on social media nowadays.

Re: Paddles

I Have a carbon paddle Pro's, its super light cons, it's expensive carbon is good towards the end of a long day on the water when arms are a bit tired and paddle stroke technique is not in as good form as it was at the start of day. Or when you're slugging it out against the wind & tide. If you ...

Re: Waiinu Sth Taranaki

Yea, we do get good fish probably because it gets pretty rough & wild on our coast. So probably not as much pressure on fish stocks as they might get perhaps north of the coromandel. The Knife is a "Mcnett saturna" it came with the PFD when I purchased kayak, the knife required a sharp...

Waiinu Sth Taranaki

Went out off waiinu beach midweek for a bit of a fish. Hit the water at about 9am after the sun was up, we have had good conditions the past week but there is always seems to be a shore breaker that gets you wet. Headed out to about 15m deep after noticing a bit of sign on sounder. I popped out the ...

Went out in the weekend 5 hrs on water with slider equaled 1 sanpper.
Very Slow not much showing on sounder a few bait blobs with the odd arch once in a while, I might just try the squid ring thing & see how it goes!

I expected some stickybeaks but it was kind of like seagulls once ones there the rest of the flock come bombing in!. Yes some good size fish I didn't have any measuring equipment to give any sizes or weights, I plan on having at least a tape for next time. The paddle blade is 48cm so Its kind of a g...
