Re: Holiday in Tarawhanui, help with where to go

Well, out of laziness I went out of the mouth of the bay and drifted, landed 5-8 snapper each day for a week. Good fishing!

20.2 Kawakawa Bay

Well, went out for the first time in a while. Hit the water at Waitawa Regional park 6:30. Conditions were perfect and the fish were biting! Released a few babies and then by 10:30 had 7 snappers in the bag ranging from 32 to 42 cm, good eating! Paddled around Pakihi island and collected my quota of...

Paddle Shopping Auckland

Where is a good place to go quality paddle Shopping? I'm in South Auckland. I'm using a waikato valley paddle and thinking about upgrading to carbon fiber.

Re: Reel advice

How often would you regrease them?

Also I got the 2500, probably wouldn't need much bigger for simple 10m depth kayak fishing yea? Thinking of getting a second.

Re: winter kayak fishing

Thanks, it is all helpful. One thing I have to work with is the fact that I always end up sitting in water, dunno if it is just my weight at 105kg, but water always comes in scupper holes or laps over side with swell etc, so want stuff that will keep me warm when wet. I'll check it all out and find...

Re: winter kayak fishing

Thanks everyone for the advice. Will have a look through it all. The reason I thought wet suit was I don't mind getting wet as long as I am warm. The Aropec gear looks really nice, might have to get some of them. I have some diving booties which I wore during summer as I don't like the idea of somet...

winter kayak fishing

Hey all, So I started kayak fishing during summer just gone. I am planning on going out for a fish soon but thought it would be handy to get some tips on winter fishing. In the summer I just wore shorts singlet and hat, I'm in Auckland fishing off the East Coast. However, I'm concerned about the col...

Fish finder how to

Hey guys,

I'm using a simple hummingbird grey scale FF. However I am new to FF and don't know if I am actually using it appropriately.

Would anyone be willing to give a run down for a rookie or share a good guide? Most of the guides I found didn't help me.

Cheers

Re: Newbie in Auckland

I'm in Papakura. There is a tackle shop in Botany called "Big Fish Bait and Tackle", or Manukau "Boat Marine" are your closest options. Both are good.
