Re: Loading kayak on car...
I scored rhinorack side loader http://www.rhinorack.co.nz/products/roof/roof-trays/xtrays/rhino-universal-side-loader_rusl recently from trademe for a really good deal. This helps me a lot on loading and unloading my kayak to the roof. There’s also a lot of DIYs out there to give similar result Sent...

Re: Ali Express for fishing gear
bought 2 reels, took the chance because price is really good. turns out it works pretty well. Granted it's not as good or as smooth of the well known brand, but i think it handles the abuse pretty well. The only bad thing about it is if you missing a part, then basically you need to buy a new reel a...

Re: CTUG/Wheeleez Conversion
Thanks Blazer. I was a bit worried if the Wheeleez would fit in my hatch so took the plunge and got the kit. I was a bit worried with my limited DIY skills but fitting was stupidly easy. You just cut the ribs pull off the old plastic, boil yes "boil" the new extenders and slide them on. W...

Re: Soft Roof Racks
value for money if you don't use it much.. but nothing beats the solid roof rack.
Apart from the scratch, the downside of soft roof rack is water WILL leak into your car during rain.

Re: A little story about Shimano - with a happy ending.
Who knew Shimano NZ read these forums.... You'd be surprised who reads these forums! :D :D Seriously, I work for Composite Developments, we bring Okuma and Savage Gear into New Zealand, along with several other brands. I think in this case it's a pretty simple mix up, and Shimano have certainly don...

I caught 2carrots, 3 snappers between 33-40cm, and 2 fat kahawai which reused as bait.
A lot of small snappers caught and released.
Great dawn service. Lest we forget.

Re: Hi
Thanks guys. Anyone tried out the torpedo 7 PFD's? Was looking at the below as an option. https://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/T7LJJN6PA/title/torpedo7-adult-voyager-paddle-vest Suggest to buy it, keep the receipt and try it out at any nearby beach. If that doesn’t float you, return it back. No ques...

I guess its for you to see where is your line better. Best is to have line that change colour every 10m so you can control the depth of your hook

This is a good initiative.
Can we setup a ground rules, what will happen if someone snagged and lost the lure? It's important to set this rule upfront so you know what to expect

Re: A cautionary tale - new skills deployed in anger
Well, came into Makara the other day and it looked an easy landing so hadn't even stowed rods etc. Suddenly got lifted by a good sized set very close to the beach and started going over - :swear: it wasn't going to be pretty (or cheap given 4 rods sticking up) - so implemented what I'd read about p...
