Re: Tips and ideas to Keep It Simple please.
Testing is still ongoing and my experiences are nowhere near as much as many of you, but I haven't found much difference between braid/mono/fluro in either strike rates of fish or line breakages around structure when fishing from a kayak. I'm surprised. Maybe in Winter they'll be more cautious. Have...

Sprats, small trevs, and kahawai of all sizes thus far. SitDown has me thinking I should strip-up the larger kahawai and strayline a speculator out back.

Re: Tips and ideas to Keep It Simple please.
Thanks. Good idea. You lost me at baitfishing. This Summer seems fully booked with livebait (yeah, bait, but hopefully eaten before dead) lessons. No room left for any other fishing types. But will keep that in mind for next year's lessons. Makes sense while they are all excited or come around...

Re: How to read Side Scan/view fish finders
Somewhat related and something I was trying to figure out for my 7sv install, the beam widths and angles at various strengths/frequencies. The attached doc explains it a bit better.

Re: Tips and ideas to Keep It Simple please.
I'm down to one rod. Tried two this morning but it only confirmed I just don't enjoy it as much. Funny how there have been times I used to take three or even four rods and a whole tackle box but I've gone right back to basics. Many trips lately have been with just one lure (a DIY lure that is provin...

Re: Hornet FF Install
Thanks for this thread and the photos. 40 minutes? I've spent two days just thinking about it!
Does anyone know if a side-vu/scanning transducer can be tucked up against the bottom of the scupper like this one is and still scan OK without the hull affecting it?

But it'll also be a charging station for my phone that I constantly forget to charge before hitting the water, so it'll be good to just reach over, un-clip the lid, extract phone, text-in sick, continue fishing.

Re: Phoenix Kayaks - Hornet UPDATED
Great idea, thanks. Perhaps the seat post clamp for micro readjustments until I settle on the correct position for in-use (I'm a bit unsure how much the position or micro adjustments thereof will influence the side-vu).Then cut and drill and use the clip. I guess still would have a small sticky up b...

Re: Phoenix Kayaks - Hornet UPDATED
Garmin GT52HW-TM t.jpg Being rudderless, I guess it could go on the back but I can't think how to easily raise and lower it to set positions. So, might as well use the transducer scupper thoughtfully moulded into the Hornet. Because I can't weld alu' I was thinking might try PVC cementing some scrap...

Re: Slipperyness?
Resurrecting this thread, wondering how we go about eliminating the placebo effect? I could swear the yak was more slippery this morning with a few coats of mould release wax. I had great results on surfboards back in the day with this stuff and it seems to have made a difference on the yak. But per...

Re: A Fish Eye view
If anyone here has seen RoKKit Kit's youtube channel, he has an inline camera on one of his trolling rigs. He gets some great footage of fish hitting his deadbaits.

Re: Speed bumps are fighting back
Just as well I haven't won lotto and can't afford to go citizen vigilante or I'd be buying drones with speed cameras and taking out adverts everywhere to expose how impotent the 'system' is and the govt/councils role in passively endorsing law breaking and general maritime mayhem. Publicly exposing ...

Re: Phoenix Kayaks - Hornet UPDATED
"Next we see the transducer scupper cover, this keeps your transducer cable covered and tidy and can also be used to secure your transducer (we'll cover this in more detail in future how to articles)." Hi Jason, is the article up anywhere please? I'm about to mount a transducer to my Hornet but am a...

Re: Speed bumps are fighting back
Nineteen out of 22 (until I gave up counting) skippers across Mangawhai bar this morning need to get their shit together. That's it for me for this place for at least a month. It's so phucking dangerous somebody is going to get seriously hurt with the clowns on parade in this place over Summer. The ...

Input voltage range for my inbound FF is up to 20v.
Any reason I shouldn't be trying to use my 6AH makita 18v cordless tool batteries to power the FF?

Re: How to read Side Scan/view fish finders
Thanks for that. My 7sv is on a plane soon so am trying to get my head around this stuff before it arrives. Good for structure, maybe not so good for fish, but at least can prospect a wider area and return over the interesting spots for a better look at if they hold fish. Any problems or concerns ab...
