Re: Cable Bay of recent

Been out again yesterday and got two legal blue cod, six tarakihi, gurhard but onlywas small 25ish snapper, but saw a diver when I was pack I up and he had caught a monster of a blue moki I'd sat about 80 cm.

How'd everyone go in the weekend?

Nice tips for the gurnard, will try next time

Cable Bay of recent

The last month has seen good results for us out here as long as you stick out the flurry of giant red cod and spiny dog sharks....there is a multitude of gurnard, snapper and kahawai to be had for the paitent angler. I've even heard rumors of massive 50 cm+ blue cod being caught but ever so cautious...

Re: Port workup

Cheers Mike, I've been out there a few times and seen a few small work ups but they move so fast lol.
Haven't been right out to the front of the island yet, I've been heading to Delaware side of Pepin and getting good results with snapper :-)
What's the fishing like out the front of the island?

My first time being in a big workup in a kayak, and what fun it is I must say being able to the kahawai right be...

What has happened to you Pete? Where you said about the big snaps is roughly where I got the big runs, would've run then realised something was up.

Re: Early morning Pepin island stalk

Awesome thank you for the info guys. Mullet is that depth where all the boats were? Did not manage to see you, we launched from Maori pa at 5.30, where did you launch from? While at that depth do you anchor up and lay up a Berkley trail?

Early morning Pepin island stalk

Went out on the yaks first time this morning to hit excellent bite times and king tide. Kayaks were amazing and stable and more than enough room to fish on. Dropped the first two fish which were gurnard as I didn't have them in the yak while trying to dehook them :-\ lesson learnt to bring the fish ...
