Re: Anyone catching?

Hi TBreezy. New to kayak fishing an new to nelson area so cant really comment on whether it's slow usually this time of year. Did a bit of fishing with my father on his boat up round BOP in the summer and it was a bit patchy at times. could of been a number of reasons though. Pete. Thanks for the in...

Anyone catching?

Anybody been out lately an caught much? Went out cable bay this morn and it was really slow. Managed a kahawai and a gurnard. Was the only one out there first light, I thought it would of been busier which made me think there's not much being caught?

Re: Pilchards versus Anchovies

Use anchovies all the time. I think they are a great bait. Caught a few snapper on them last night.

Re: Cable Bay of recent

No set day. I'll have to earn some brownie points with the misses. Possibly one aft/evening this next week or weekend. I'll flick you a message on here and see if you are keen when I get the chance.

Re: Cable Bay of recent

Hi ranson.
I was pretty close in. In around 4 mtr of water. Just got to find a bit of structure/feature out there.
Where do you launch to fish the back beach at tahunanui? Any tips for fishing there?
Cheers.

Hi Pete thanks for the info. I headed out paddling about and just found a bit of a rise or ruff looking bottom on my sounder that's why I was in 8 mtr. I did see some at about 4 mtr too which in hindsite prob would of been the spot to look at. I'm thinking I should of floated about a bit more with t...

Re: Kina or ruby?

Looks like you did better than me by a long way. I just dropped burly down to bottom and threw some lumps of squid out with very little weight. Could I do anything different next time?

Yeah I've seen on you tube vids people using really thin stuff. What's the best material that you find doesn't tangle as much with a good lifetime and strength?

Re: Hook 4 reload pod.

Is yours the hook 4? How did you make it so the transducer sits flat in the pods scupper? Do you just use the longer supplied bolt and set the distance?
