Re: chill pod lid

One of the biggest problems with the pod is that it's not air tight which lets the cold escape.

Go to a Hardware store and get some draft stopper (about $15).

Makes a real difference.

Re: Whangaparaoa 14/04

Got 7 eater's, no monsters.

Thought I'd try trolling that new Catch White Warrior beta bug on the way in.

Caught a nice KY within seconds :)

Re: Whangaparaoa 14/04

I had several Rapalas but sold them due to no luck. I often took them out and forgot to put over the side when I paddled out :( Hitting NN in the morning. Going to try a different style slider from Daiwa and a Catch jitterbug. Weather looks awesome all week, might have to do a double mission :)

Good stuff.

Never had any luck with towing lures, maybe I paddle too slow :0

Re: Fun Fishing with Ferry's

This map shows the ferry routes.

It looks like they are suppose to follow the main channel into the harbor and not cut across close to Devonport heads to save a little time/gas.

The red dot is around where I was - well away of where they are suppose to map going by this.

Re: Fun Fishing with Ferry's

6 on slider, 1 softbait. Softbait was getting bites all day but struggled to hook up. P.S. Fuller's Ferries got back to me already which is great. My email has been passed on to the company GM, so will be interesting what they have to say. Maybe I'm in the wrong or something? But I can find no onlin...

Re: Fun Fishing with Ferry's

They seem to have no standard route, they come in all over the show. If they did, I'd avoid it.

The GoPro makes it look further away, got smashed with wake not long after.

P.S. If you saw someone fishing in a kayak would you drive a 60 foot catamaran at 30knots that close to them?

Fun Fishing with Ferry's

This jackass cut in between me and the Rough Rock buoy (about 20m).

I'm going to contact Fuller's and see if they actually train their captains or just pull hobo's off the street. :headbang:

Re: Weather limits

For me I find that if it's blowing much over 20kph the act of kayak fishing just isn't much fun. You end up drifting way too fast , and spending more time paddling back to your mark than actually fishing. I also don't do as well as a nice 10-15kph breeze. I could fish up to 30kph but I have the luxu...

By light - I always do early early morning.

But I imagine dusk will do well.

Good Luck.

Nice haul sir.

I just headed out for another midweek fish to beat the fizz boats.

The fishing went crazy after 10am.

NN 27/02 - Finally!

Haven't been able to get out in what seems like a lifetime. So I decided to take a sneaky Wednesday off and beat the crowds. The snapper were biting from the 1st cast. Secured 7 good fatties drifting along #09 - #11 buoys, then decided to give Rough Rock a go on the way in. A big ole Trevally smashe...
