Re: Hobie Revolution 16's

Vantage seats, all Revolutions have them, it's only the earlier Adventure models that had the old style seats.
The Mirage drives are the last version of the non reversible type.

The answer is to get a mass launch of kayaks from Sullivans on the first good weather weekend, let them arrest 20 or 30 of us....force the issue...

Re: No fishing

If Hainsey gets a reply, I'll put money on it being a NO....default position will always be to say no, then no one can be blamed......I'd sooner take my chances on arguing with the cops about interpretation and commonsense, forgivness vs permission

Re: No fishing

They say no fishing from boats as they can breakdown....our Hobies have at least 2 forms of propulsion, paddles and peddles, the Island has 3 with the addition of sailing....so not really any risk of needing rescue, so we'll be going out at the first opportunity... I'd argue that kayaking is safer t...

Splash Guards

Brand new set of splash guards to fit either Tandem Island or Adventure Island. Bought them from Kayaking Bob in US but by the time they got here my neighbour had made me a set from some spare shade sail fabric. Hence these are for sale. Have a look here for more info: http://www.kayakingbob.com/spr...

Re: No fishing

Sobering comments Andrew, thank you. Having been the beneficiary of several orthopedic surgeries over the years (keen motorcyclist, or as you guys call us, donors) you comments hit home, we won't be going fishing any time soon.

Re: No fishing

At the risk of being flamed (or whatever the current expression is...) what would be the problem with me and wife taking our two hobie kayaks from home to a remote Northland beach (20 minutes of back roads) and going for a fish? Each kayak has two forms of propulsion (paddles and peddles) plus we'd ...

Re: Bixpy

Hi Grant, I'm toying with adding a bixpy to my Hobie Revo 16, my only concern is that the replacement rudder that bixpy sell looks a lot shorter than the original Hobie one.... How do you find the turning response? Particularly when the bixpy isn't running? I imagine it's fine when it's running, but...

Re: C-Tug Wheels (Free)

Re Wheeleez, I got the 32cm ones, I had the last complete conversion kit which I used on one of my C-Tugs, the guy at Beachwheels has stopped producing them, but for my 2nd Tug he kindly gave me the blank material for the axle conversion which I machined at work.... The two converted Tugs were for o...

Lowrance transducer etc

Having added a Hobie Tandem Island to the fleet, I'm looking to add a transducer and power cable to the new yak, so I can swap my head unit back and forth...
Anyone got a 83/200hz tranducer and power cable knocking around to sell? Or even a complete Lowrance set up maybe?

Re: Versatile and affordable kingfish setup

I caught my first legal kingie (1 metre) a couple of weekends back, off Langs Beach, using a 60g Kubara, 6kg braid, Shimano Saragosa 5000 reel and a K Labs softbait/spinning rod. Took over 20 mins to get it to the gaff!

Re: Matouri Bay/Cavalli Islands, 27th April

I was astonished that a snapper that size would actively chase a lure, I was peddling at 5-6kph at the time, so it had to move a bit!

Matouri Bay/Cavalli Islands, 27th April

New PB, 17lb snapper on a Dr Evil trolling lure round the back of the island, followed by an epic 16kph surf on the big swells coming back through the gap between the islands... Amazing visibility closer in to Matouri, 8.5 metres of water beneath me and I could easily see the 20cm snapper swimming u...

Re: Anyone fished in Rarotonga?

Having fished Raro and Aitutaki, I would heartily recommend Black Pearl, Mike is awesome, nothing too much trouble, gives you a full range of locations and techniques and full involvement. Casting poppers for GT's is the most exciting fishing I've ever experienced. Charters out of Raro were not so g...
