Re: Soft baiting leader/knot

Easiest way I have found to tie the FG knot

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjzUb5QRKuk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Easy to do with rod in holder on the yak, trick I found is not to much tension on the braid while its in your teeth. Glides through guides easy as.

Re: SNA1 management plan meeting (Whangarei)

Hmm, Given I can see the Cruising Club form my lounge it would be kinda rude not to attend for a nosey wouldn't it. Be interested to see the recreational representation (who and how many) and how they are proposing to achieve the plan.

Ahh winter in Northland

So after not being on the water for 5 weeks (Although the last mission to Tokerau was good), it was time to escape the renovations. Despite a forecast of a a good size swell today was looking good and a plan was hatched. A not to early start saw me and a mate launch into the Whananaki estuary at abo...

New PB

After no fishing for 3 weeks despite being on leave, I managed to convince she who must be obeyed that I had done all I could on our kitchen reno until the bench top arrives. Pass granted a plan was hatched and I launched at Mcgregors at a little after 7. Plan was to look for a kingi but it was to w...

Re: any 12v to 12v chargers

Ctek do them as do a range of other charger companies. The good ones (like Ctek) take the 12 volts at 15 or so amps and up the voltage to 14.2 or so at a lower amps, so you can charge AGM etc at the right voltage. Very hard to charge a 12v battery from a 12v source if you can not up the voltage a bi...

Re: Uretiti or Taiharuru

Wish I had gone with my gut instead of my head. Went to Uretiti to find a reasonable swell rolling. Watched it for long enough to decide there was a break in the sets, turns out there was just not long enough to get out. Turtle on second wave and back to the beach I went. On casualty was the loss of...

Uretiti or Taiharuru

That is the question :worried: I know there are fish in Bream Bay, have caught good feeds out of there in the boat over the last couple weeks. But I am keen to have another crack at a kingi from the Yak. Have they moved back in at Taiharuru yet????????? Tomorrow is a Kayak mission and I can't decide...

If you don't mind a tent and can cope with pit toilets and cold showers (or solar) Moututara Farm Park at Whananaki North is pretty good, although the fishing can be a bit hit and miss

Ray marine dragonfly

Anybody using a raymarine dragonfly sounder/plotter I like the look of them, features, included charts etc and current pricing is not bad but the transducer is stupid long (230mm) which means it won't fit in the OK transducer scupper so was wondering if anyone had mounted one through hull style http...

Re: My Frustration

Best place to get wiring is BOC or similar, get welder cable ( lots of size choice) well insulated, made to be flexable and a heap cheaper than you local auto sparky. Longer the distance the heavier the cable. Have a look at the size of the wire boyracers use to drive their sub woofers etc Wiring sh...
