Long weekend in Northland - where would you choose?

Thinking of a weekend away with family in a kayak fishing friendly spot in Northland sometime in the next few weeks weather dependent. At the moment I have Bland Bay, Oakura or Whananaki on my mind. Which would you recommend, ideally looking for a beachfront bach off book-a-bach or similar. Cheers i...

Re: Winter boots.

You guys are all way too flash. I just pull down the waist, let it all go where-ever it lands and then rinse it off using the seawater in the lid from the Gulp softbait tub.
Anyone wanna borrow my kayak? :D :D :D

Calling all plus sized paddlers

Hi team, my Xtrasport PFD is coming to the end of it's life. Quite a few ragged ends and tears, not to mention the mold is settling in despite a couple of bleach washes (which probably haven't helped the strength any). Anyways... lots of options in the market for kayak fishing PFD's, and plenty of f...

Re: Baby steps

Hey mate, I live in West Harbour, so if you want someone to help lift the yak on and off and down to the water, I might be able to give you a hand and come out for a fish too?

Re: Can you still buy the Yak Pursuit Cag?

Just a heads up folks, contacted Survitec as per mentals suggestion. They couldn't have been more helpful, even though the product is no longer made they set me up with the Apollo which has replaced it, awesome customer service. Cheers.

Can you still buy the Yak Pursuit Cag?

Quite like the look of that Yak Pursuit paddling jacket and a mate had one. Can't seem to find them anywhere.
Ideas?

Anzac Fish

I decided I've earned this Anzac day off after years of going to dawn parades both as a scout when I was younger and then with the Air Force band when I was older. So I made an early start up to my stomping ground of Sullivans Bay at Mahurangi, my easy go-to-don't need to think too hard to plan this...

Pakihi Island full bin Saturday 11 Feb

Sorry no photos guys. Had been out the weekend before and filled the chillpod at Sullivans Bay with snapper pannies, but had given the fish away. Had a mates 25th wedding anniversary drinks on the Sunday, so thought it would be good if I could get some fillets to take over for them. Wanted to try so...

I've had a couple fish disappear for the same issue with genie clips, but now use the ones with the swivel attached, havent had issues since then. A lefties loop (a small one) helps me too.

Re: Life Jacket PFD

So how do we know when your PFD is too old? Mine is pretty frayed and has a lot of mould spots on it, despite washing with bleach a few times. But the webbing all looks pretty good. I'm pretty big (120kg) so had a tough time finding one first time around, all of the above look pretty good but maybe ...

Re: Herald island fishing

I haven't personally. But a good mate at work says they used to launch a dinghy from one of the roads in Whenuapai just 2 mins from there. Would anchor in 4m of water on mid tide and burley and got bags of 45cm plus snapper apparently.
