A Quick Papamoa Fish

Hey guys,

I got out for a quick fish on Saturday and had an absolute ball. Nothing big but had my limit and was back on shore in two hours exactly. Here's the vid

NZ Kayaker Trip Report - getting railed at Schooner

Hey Team,

I took a rare day off last week and did a mission out to Schooner to target some kings. To cut a long story short I got railed, twice, by fish I simply couldn't stop and went home in a huff. A 44km day of paddling and nothing to show for it haha.

NZ Kayaker Fishing Report - Omaio

Hey Chaps, fishing's been a bit depressing here in the BOP lately but I had a chance to shoot down to Omaio. This was for a charter to teach a young chap and get him into good fish...he wasn't disappointed with his biggest going 4kg. If you're keen for the info check out this report http://www.nzkay...

Re: The 10 things I wish I knew when I first started kayak fishing.

Your absolutely right Mike, I'm not the only one who's been around but I do walk the walk and talk the talk...there's a world record hanging on my wall to back that up. This isn't a slant against you because I really have no idea what you do. I'm believe I'm very fortunate with my kayaking experienc...

Re: The 10 things I wish I knew when I first started kayak fishing.

Not sure how you come to the opinion Mike because only point no.4 specifically mentions surf. That aside, I've done the whole of NZ including Stewart Island and I can assure you that there's surf everywhere. So yes, learning to surf any sort of fishing kayak (unloaded or not) is a damn good idea. No...

Re: The 10 things I wish I knew when I first started kayak fishing.

My personal favourite is surfing in over the Maketu Bar, styling a landing on the beach, and pulling out a big king from under the cover...it never fails to impress. The only thing you have to remember is that your legs might not work after a big day, so you will face-plant if you stand up in a hurr...

The 10 things I wish I knew when I first started kayak fishing.

Hey guys, in a rare quiet moment over the weekend I whipped up another blog post. Probably stuff many of you know but I though some of the new anglers might find it useful. Let me know what you think. The 10 things I wish I knew when I first started kayak fishing. 1. You’re going to loose shit. Th...

NZ Kayaker Fishing Report - Cape Runaway

Hey Team, over the weekend I shot down to Cape Runaway for a day targeting hapuka. Sadly I didn't get any this time but I have in the past so it's a good location for us kayak anglers to target. This time I got a bag of golden snapper, which included the 2.5kg beauty below. Check out the details her...

NZ Kayaker Trip Report -Waihi Beach

Hey Team, just whipped up a report on yesterdays fishing up at Waihi Beach. This is a great location for those days when the westerly is blowing hard, but it's still susceptible to a southerly (like yesterday). http://www.nzkayaker.co.nz/Blog/x_post/Waihi%2dbeach%2dkayak%2dfishing%2dreport%2d00080.h...

Re: NZ Kayaker Trip Report - Whiritoa

Nice result Tim . :y: 2/0 hooks seem very small and 15lb trace very light for straylineing . Is this your usual strayline rig ? Normally I'm using 40lb fluro with 4/0 hooks but they just weren't taking it. I had that on my other setup and I think it only accounted for 1 of the 6 snapper I caught. G...

NZ Kayaker Trip Report - Whiritoa

Hey Team, so yesterday I headed up for an exploratory mission to Whiritoa. I knew it would be sheltered from the wind and at only 1hr 20 minutes drive from TGA it was well worth it. My biggest went 5.2kg and there were multiple fish that I couldnt stop. If you'd like the details check out my report....

I always find it a little strange when someone that is in there early 20's says over the years :P Have you got any of your own on water screen shots of them tuned and working out of demo mode? I'd be quite interested to see your results because I certainly struggled with mine to get it set how I li...
