Re: Storage rack dent in hull, to buy or not to buy?

That should pop back into shape. My dad left my kayak on the wheels for 3months, leaving a much bigger dent than the one in the photo. After about a week lying outside it had popped back into shape. Even with the dent i didn't notice much change in performance. One thing you might find is that this ...

BFIST wrote:Awesome work! What sort of depths are you fishing these at?
Anything under 10m over foul works well, depending on how deep the lure dives. Cast and retrieve into anything under 3m is good fun too.

This one was caight in about 7m.

Short sunday TR using bibbed lures

Now we're into Spring the trolling lures got the nod for the starting lineup. It was quiet on the water. Caught a few KY after a couple of hours a d thought i should have used B+B instead of lures. I decided to use my bigger lures and mix up the colours a bit. This pink williamson lure was completel...

Portaoffice

Did a bit of multitasking at work this morning. Grabbed the portaoffice and the phone and hit the water on the south side of whangaparoa. With a couple in the bag the clock struck 7 and I made a few calls to organise the guys and get today's site deliveries booked in. Job done so back to the fishing...

Looking at those two options, the hummingbird has better screen resolution than the elite 5, which will make it nicer to live with. I use an Elite 7 chirp and love it. It works well and has a nice wide screen. It can be a little slow to switch between pages - probably needs a bit more processing pow...

Re: Leigh/army bay weekend

How is Army Bay fishing at the moment? It has been very quiet around Army Bay and the rest of the peninsular for a while. Lots of small fish but nothing over 40cms (well, for me anyway). I saw a good kingy chase in a snapper I caught but when I tried livebaiting I got nothing. FWIW I have found mos...

A VHF is now top of my list for Santa. Thanks for reminding me about the realities of kayaking; It's so easy to become complacent.

I can't remember the last time i checked the integrity of my hull; Job for this weekend

Some tips if using Kits 1) If buying the cheap Coopers kits from the supermarket, replace the yeast with a proper one from the home brew shop. Some PacknSave stores also sell the Lion Kits, but people like me can empty the shelf of there Real ale Kits. 2) Dry hop after fermentation is complete to a...

Leigh dawny on Saturday

Thinking of heading over to Leigh to get into some deeper water early on Saturday (apparently the fish are in the 50m mark). I've never been there before so tips of places to launch to hit the reef appreciated. Wingmen always welcome - I'm thinking of lunching around 5.30am.

Re: Questions about Elite 7 install for 4.7 ultra

Hi bigreddog, the earlier OKs do have smaller transducer holes. I have mounted a similar unit onto my OK P13. I use the railblazer mount. It works quite well, but can get a bit fuzzy on choppy water. The reason I use this is so I can remove all the hardware from the kayak for transport and storage, ...
