Re: So what's the latest on FFINDERS now

Lowrance and Garmin are both good. Just make sure you know where you'll put your transducer and that it'll fit

Re: A little story about Shimano - and why I will never buy them again.

Tangent here, but speaking of buying offshore, I have 2 x Daiwa BG2500 reels arriving from SRMO in the states, got both of them for $232 landed in NZ. Best price I have seen here is $199 each. Makes it an easy decision! Will have to add GST too soon. Also, it's great UNTIL you need any support by D...

Striker plus has quickdraw contour mapping. Makes your own chart . All too techo for my low brow knuckle dragging intellect.
Quickdraw is amazing! Onto my 3rd unit with it, and I wouldn't go back to a unit without it.

Re: Kayak Fishfinder - GPS - Sounder Recommendations

Watching with interest. I was looking at one of these for a reasonably compact option https://www.marine-deals.co.nz/raymarine-dragonfly-4-pro-gps-fishfinder-package or one of these https://www.marine-deals.co.nz/marine-gps-chartplotter-fishfinder/lowrance-hook2-5x-gps-fishfinder-with-splitshot-tra...

Re: Kayak Fishfinder - GPS - Sounder Recommendations

My only advice, is to go as big as you can afford AND can fit (both unit and transducer). I've had plenty of sounders over the years. 3" to 7" on the kayak, 5" to 9" on a jetski and now a 10" on the boat. In every case, bigger was better. That said, I found 7" a good size on the kayak, although I'm ...

Re: Kayak Trolling for Kingfish

IMO, a live bait. Then you only need to go like 1-2 kt and that'd be perfect.

Any update? While I don't paddle any more, and I'm completely useless at anything like it, I've enjoyed following this discussion.

Now I don't paddle, I'll have to take my select out and give them a tow. Never found the energy levels high enough when I had the yak.

Re: FS: Jet ski

That was quick! We’re looking at boats now for the same reason. In an ideal world, I’ll keep the ski as it’s such an efficient fish hunter, but that is to be negotiated [emoji3] I love the ski man, best solo (or group) fishing platform IMO. A good step up from the kayak in most situations. But not ...

Re: FS: Jet ski

What sort of $$$ are you after? I have no idea what jetskis are worth! That will probably be my next move though. Like kayaks, there is a range. I've spent over 30k on this one, obviously not looking for that much. Probably 23-24k or so. If you're interested, I can put up some pics and details??

FS: Jet ski

Just putting it out there, anyone interested in changing over to a Jet Ski? Looking at a boat now, better for the kids.
2016 Yamaha FXHO with about 100 hours. Fully setup for fishing. Let me know if anyone needs more details.
