Will be doing a Tongoio mission again probably targeting gurnard, Perhaps another Kingfish ? anything can happen out there. Keen t...

The first go i got at the fish (when it was swimming alongside the yak) It was off cam but the first go i had at the tail it quite frankly dealt to me , i couldnt hold on so i had to let go. then i had anothe...

Re: This weekend!

Hi Herman, The at Tongoio is fairly easy but a little more exposed to swell. All you have to is time a wave right and your away. Usually just one dumper. Same on the way back in. Today i was specifically targeting Kingfish, I managed to hook onto a very nice fish of 15 kilos on a live mackerel. Land...

Launched from the beach at around 6.30 and quickly found the bait schools at the 15m mark. Along with Kingfish ! And a lot of them. Schools ...

Tongoio Beach 21st Jan

With a great forecast i headed out to Tongoio beach for a change of location. This turned out to be a great call with the conditions staying at 5 knots or less, barely any swell and good water temperature and visibility. P1210012.JPG The depth drops away much faster north of Napier, it didn't take l...

Will be heading out from Clifton boat ramp just round the corner. Most likely Saturday , but either day is looking to be good wind/swell conditions.
Time to mix it up and try a different spot a bit further east.

If anyone else is keen to tag along your more than welcome

I've hooked a 2m+ thresher too , magnificent fish . Especially when they jump! Great catch on the eaters too. I've fished cable a couple times when i was down there. Caught all my gurnard on an orange lucanus just floating round the bay in about 20m

Labour Weekend

A good forecast for Friday and Saturday, Whos heading out? Based on the swell height i will be at either Clifton or Te Awanga. Tongoio was the original plan but i like to launch there when the swell is closer to 0.3m as there is quite a shore dump. Will be doing a yak mission Friday All welcome :y:
