Spring Struggle!

The bay has made it very tough to get out offshore for fishing late winter into spring this year! but i've had a few trips out, even if that is sitting in ahuriri harbour sounder testing ,hiding from the howling westerly and catching baitfish. Hopefully these N Westerlies calm down and we can have a...

Re: Workups

the spring work ups are here! I got out on sunday for a test of the new sounder in the harbour. Clear picture and even marked baitfish and dropped the sabiki down and caught them! Hopefully get a weather window between these NWesterlies and get out there and do it! Still After that Kayak Moki!

Re: Mahia this weekend Interest?

I'm keen for any trips we can set up, especially new spots with new opportunities. Porere looks like a great spot , tons of structure a real possibility for kayak tarakihi i'm after along with blue cod and gurnard. Tongoio in that size swell was an easy launch the area is lovely, in season the gurna...

Tongoio Hawkes Bay 13-8

The forecast was for NW winds so me and dad headed up the coast looking at Aropoanui then Waipatiki, both were looking not that good as the wind was still holding at North. A launch at Tongoio was the backup plan. Headed out not too far offshore because it was still a strong wind, but the sea was co...

Re: Mahia this weekend Interest?

Scrapped the mahia idea because of the forecast worsening. Ended up Heading to Tongoio after checking Aropoanui and Waipatiki which had a bit much wind, also didnt fancy a wet ass launch through some surf. Headed out not too far offshore , the wind was coming from the west but the sea was comfortabl...

Raymarine Dragonfly 5 Pro install (a few questions)

Hey everyone, finally have got a sounder lined up after 3 years fishing without one. I have a few questions about installing one for my kayak. I have a Profish 400 lite. Where do you store your battery? Where can i put the transducer as it doesn't fit into the 400 slot underneath the hull? And what ...

Re: Who's keen for a midwinter fish?

well me and herman made the effort to go for a paddle today , the results were much as expected. around the port in its deeper parts is thick with dogfish, they were even biting slow. Conditions weren't ideal. with swell higher than expected so we stayed inside the harbour. Water Temp was reading a ...

Re: Who's keen for a midwinter fish?

I've got your number so i'll keep in touch for sure, wind looks 5-9 knots or so which is a good sign. Will just be a fish at the port. Going to head off in search of some reef to look for some different species. Edit: If the wind is forecast right , i will be heading off the port at about 8-9am and ...

Northland classic Partner

Will be heading up this year to fish in the northland classic, I have limited experience in the upper north island so would be good to tag along with someone who knows the area. Safety in numbers too. If anyone would be keen to have me come along with them it would be greatly appreciated. I also hav...

Re: Whats goin ' on ?

When the opportunity comes (not much time for it at the moment) i would like to do a trip out at awatoto. put a live mullet out and see if i can get into a kingie off the yak. Seen plenty of action on the baitfish out at clifton some huge splashes sometimes which i'd assume were kingfish. Ginja i he...
