Cheers for all the kind comments guys, Was hard fishing for the amount of time spent. Cheers there Archilles. The trip was well worth documenting for the sheer amount of travel and story we had to go along with it, so great finally meeting the northland yakkers. i've got a long way to go as my goals...

I've hooked a 2m+ thresher too , magnificent fish . Especially when they jump! Great catch on the eaters too. I've fished cable a couple times when i was down there. Caught all my gurnard on an orange lucanus just floating round the bay in about 20m

A good forecast for Friday and Saturday, Whos heading out? Based on the swell height i will be at either Clifton or Te Awanga. Tongoio was the original plan but i like to launch there when the swell is closer to 0.3m as there is quite a shore dump. Will be doing a yak mission Friday All welcome :y:

It was a flotilla out there on saturday, 8 kayaks, some new faces and fish being caught. With the berley doing its magic i had fish everywhere on the bottom, Fishing with 4/0 ledger and a 3/0 flasher it was doing the damage. It Was one of those days for me... great conditions this morning and red hot Spiny fishing, I caught about 20 of them in the end. Sounder was showing no sign anywhere, paddled 2km out to have a nosey at one of the southern pania buoys. Not much happening there either, except more spinies, and landed...

Will be heading out from the port around sunrise. Swell is looking to be around 1m and winds light, looking forward to catching a feed again, if conditions line up i'll be heading to my rock i've been eyeing up for a while. Would be cool if some others tagged along!

the spring work ups are here! I got out on sunday for a test of the new sounder in the harbour. Clear picture and even marked baitfish and dropped the sabiki down and caught them! Hopefully get a weather window between these NWesterlies and get out there and do it! Still After that Kayak Moki!
