Re: Taranaki Kayak Classic 2019

WEIGH IN Getting on the road to Oakura at 3 we got to see most of the fish weighed. I arrived and looked at the board, Yip Hamish had taken over first place John Dory with his fish of 1.955 kg, but there were lots of people still to come. I met up with some mates along the way and chatted about how...

Re: Taranaki Kayak Classic 2019

DAY 2 After being shattered from the first day a later start was required since the body did not want to get up so early. I was determined to land a few fish to weigh since the first day hadn’t gone my way. 7.45 am was the time as I started the paddle out to the gurnard grounds. Screen Shot 2019-03...

Re: Hawkes Bay New Member

I have been fishing out of the bay by kayak since 2013. If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them :y: Plenty of good fish about if you fish the right areas. A bit of persistence / patience is good too !

A big Red one - Te Awanga 19/1

https://youtu.be/wHQ3Styudi8 After years of trying i came up tight on a solid red. I caught lots of tasty pannies too with many released. Here in Hawkes Bay i mainly fish for Snapper from 4m - 6m deep. You really get a scrap out of them at this depth. The trusty Pinky Snapper Snatcher did the damag...

Going for a fish saturday at Te Awanga, testing out some new gear . Hopefully there are some fish about . Keen for some people to join me. Still watching the swell height at this point, but it looks to be dropping to a manageable level by Saturday. Cheers :y:

@TBreezy I will be cooking the Pigfish just like most species, pan fry or bake it. The flesh is similar looking to blue cod just way wider !' @Rabbit The old bait and berley is what i have grown up with down here in the bay, so it's what i've always done. I have caught a wide range of species on jig...

Re: Northland Classic 2018 ~ Epickswid

With that the day was over pretty much. Came in early and got cleaned up with some time to spare before weigh in. Lots of big fish this year, and I watched some of my dream fish come through the gate to be weighed. Final results were: Snapper: 10.7kg Kingfish: 17.6kg Trevally: 3.8kg Kahawai: 2.6kg N...
