Fin-nor Rob Fort Series Kayak Rod $70ono

Hasn't been used for a while so time to pass it on to someone who will. If you know Rob Fort he's a Kayak Fishing legend. 1.94m, 6-12kg. Had it paired with a Quantum Exo 300. It's a really nice light rod, has pulled in some kings - heaps of fun! In good condition, some wear on the cork grips and bit...

Re: Two questions

Yeah, braid to fluoro with fg or other recommended knot (I do use fg). Then tie fluoro strait to jig head, no swivel. Some guys do use genie clips for easy change of jig heads, but I like to tie straight to jig head with a loop knot.

Re: Sea Sickness Medication

the takapuna pharmacy do a very similar product to the paihia bomber, and can courier to you quite quickly. at least they did about 18 months ago, i never got a chance to really test them, but I never found sea legs particularly effective.

Re: Ocean Kayak - Tackle Storage Pods - What would you pay?

i would love one!!! so gutted they're not available. now I'm in a better financial position, i'd pay $250 - $300ish, stretch to $350, but at that price i start to question the value (having to pack the centre console each time vs having it prepacked). are you looking to develop something?

Re: VHF Radio Recommendations

I picked up what seems to be a good unit from marine-deals: standard horizon hx300. seemed a good unit for the price ($239). haven't actually had it on the water yet, but seemed to get good reviews from what i could find online. few features: floats, waterproof, red light that activates in water, fi...

Re: Trident 4.3 and roof racks. Advice needed.

Hey Sharkfin. I use foam cradles (cost about $30) that have a slot for the roof racks (on the bottom), and have a cradle shape at the top and sit the kayak bottom down (as it is in the water). Works totally fine for me, but not as firm as proper cradles. But I travel a fair distance with them like t...

Re: Whatuwhiwhi

Try netting for piper in the bay just to the left of Whatuwhiwhi. Used to be an old guy there MANY moons ago called Oscar who did real well netting for piper there. Use doe burley/bread to draw them out and you should see them on the surface

Re: Speccy four eyes?

Yeah, I'm blind as without specs. I swap them out for contact lenses for days on the water or at the beach. they're fantastic. thought of trying them? Optometrists will give you lenses to trial, etc.

Re: Fun with the Kids

Thanks team! Get into it FOM. Find somewhere sheltered and just get him used to being in the kayak and fishing.

Thanks for the encouragement. Hopefully you'll see more of him in the not to distant future.

Now, off to Otamure Bay (whananaki) for a week and to target some kingfish.

Fun with the Kids

Not fishing related, but staying at a friends place on the water in Howick, and they have a couple of kayaks. Took the kids for a paddle, an adult on each yak. My 5yo asked to have a go on his own. I let him have a go, not sure he'd get it, but gave him a couple of tips on paddling, and he nailed it...

Free - Thule roof rack parts/fittings

Got a box of fittings for Thule roof racks - free to a good home. Don't know serial numbers of fitting codes, but there's a variety in there. Also 4 non locking ends to the square racks. In Botany, Auckland. Offered elsewhere too.

Re: Max bad weather?

Great advice from the experienced guys. Definitely good fellas to listen to. Think you made the right choice to stay home. Tide really flies out at bucklands and would be wind against tide this morn creating a pretty ugly chop. If you're going to travel this way from Swanson, definitely wait for the...
