Re: Wilsons Bay this Saturday 6 May
I was on the water soon after Jumboz.
Lots of fish, mostly juvenile.
Got my limit by 11am ranging 35 - 49cm.

Re: Wilsons Bay this Saturday 6 May
Channel 8 and 0276127422.
Plan to be on the water at 6.30, paddle towards Manaia harbour and drift back with the incoming tide around 11.
Probably around the 12 metre mark but of course plans change if I see bad weather or good workups.

Re: Fantail Bay
Agree with Andrew. The tide can push you along pretty quick. Goat Bay, (next Bay north) would be worth exploring and there's a few spots the rock fisho's fish within 1km of Fantail that produce well too. Last time I was there fishing was a bit tough, I paddles back to the bay to have a shoal of 20 o...

Re: The Boys Are Back In Town - Matai Bay 10th Feb 2017
For me, while fishing was a challenge it was a great weekend. I don't get the opportunity very often so my goal was to Jig from a kayak and catch a Kingfish. Following KK's lead and watching and awesome sunrise on the way out I was soon put onto the fish. 4 Rat kings on the Jig and one (sorry about ...

Re: Pre trip planning
It is a bit of no brainer Bruce, base your self at Papa aroha, so many options, and I haven't been there many times and there has not been other yak fishos up there... from there you have the top of Coro, be wary of big currents, short drive will have you to Fantail bay, a little further to goat ba...

Family trip to Papa Aroha
So I haven't posted on here in a while, been busy with work and family. Waikatoyakka's princess doesn't do camping, fishing or windy roads but somehow was convinced to stay in a cabin at Papa Aroha for a few nights, drink wine on the beach and watch me try to teach a 3 year (+2 days) old how to fish...

Re: Hope it wasn't one of us
?................ Back on subject, MPI had a road check point at Clevedon on our way back through, run just like a Police one with good numbers of staff and they were clearly getting stuck into transgressors. I have to confess that I have had the odd day that starts well so I throw lots back immedi...
