Re: Viking Profish 35 or profish 400???

The 35 is pretty new so it will be hard to find a review or 2nd hand one for sale. I would go for something over 4m if you are doing more than a couple of kms offshore.

That top photo is awesome congrats on the fish. Great kayak.
Price, weight and surf entry/exit puts it out of my requirements but I do understand the benefits for some yak fishoes.

Re: Fish Finder Preservation

Lanocote smeared on the rear socket and plugs. This is where most fishfinders fail. Also rinse the fishfinder off after use with fresh water and store in the hotwater cupboard.

Re: Targeting John Dory

I caught 3 the other day off Papamoa. Your chances increase if you are over foul, are stationary or very slow drift, have a livie on the bottom. I got 2 on gulp brown colour swimmimg mullet and one on a livie. I get a big buzz catching them as they can be hard to get and taste so damn good.

Re: Gulp pack vs tub

By memory I think there are 17 jerk shads in a tub, the tubs are convenient and I tend to have a whole range of different SB in a tub... I scored 30 tubs of Nuclear chicken 3" Gulp minnow grubs which had 30 baits per tub cost $4.50USD, but that avenue has been shut closed on overseas orders now ......

Re: Are we loosing the "brotherhood "??

Theres definitely an over the top factor with gear and videoing etc. I remember Rainbow fishing out of a Frenzy and killing it. I started on some embarrassingly small kayaks with a sack and a rod but still did ok. Newbies are been told to go straight to a Reload now as if budget doesnt matter and no...

Always a shame when egos and brands take over a hobby, Ive seen it with all of my other hobbies too. Once someone is sponsored or has a business interest, the game changes. Its just how we humans are programmed I guess.
Good on you Kerry for staying true to your values.

Do you cook them whole?
The fillets set better if you leave them chilled for a few hours. Easier to fillet then.
