Re: For the love of fish

Man that looks delicious. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts. :y:

I've just finished my first smoking video a few days ago. I don't go fishing much nowadays but I've been making a few videos to keep me occupied.

Re: NEW KAYAK FISHING STORE IN NZ

There is already a Hobie retailer/agent in NZ - http://www.nzwatershed.co.nz/ The best place (most population) would be to base it in Auckland. Sorry Mental, I'm quite surprised by those answers of yours. Firstly, Rob's store, Kayak Adventures sounds much more like what MAXGARCIA has in mind than W...

Re: Speed bumps are fighting back

I hear ya. If my in-laws didn't live in Mangawhai I wouldn't bother going to that s#*thole. The town is a bore and the locals don't seem too bright. The restaurant service is piss poor. The local farmer's markets sell lots of hippy crap, and boating (or kayaking) in the Mangawhai estuary is dicing w...

Re: A cautionary tale

Probably want to keep the drift chute tucked up and stored away if you are riding the waves to the beach.

On one trip I didn't disconnect the chute from the running rig and stow it away. When I turtled the chute tangled around my lower leg and nearly dragged me out to the water.

Re: Nice idea for a kayak fishing competition

Great idea! I like.

If we could somehow persuade Viking, Rob Fort and Mental to throw in one of their fine kayaks as a prize I'm in!

Hint, hint. Wink wink ;)

Re: Weather resources et al.

Good post! There are lots of websites I wasn't aware of.

I'm finding the predict wind app pretty useful. I think the Americas cup syndicates use this app.

Re: Wheeleez Kayak Trolley

Just add a further conversation. Now I have a lighter kayak ( the Kraken was a great fishing machine but heavy ) and I the C-Tug I had went with it. Is the smaller wheel Wheeleez cart ( $200ish) that much better or do I keep saving and go for the standard one at around $300? I have the Wheeleez wit...

Re: Two questions

Paddle leashed to the kayak for me. I unleash the paddle when I launch to minimize getting tangled if I fall out. PR knot to tie braid to leader. It takes time to master the technique. I find it also slides very nicely in the guides if you weave the ends of the knot with dental floss. Genie clip tie...

Re: End of 2017, Pikowai

Yeah plenty of kahawai around pukehina over the holidays. Love catching and eating that fish. Like the guys say watch that shore dump. Stow away your rods and reels if your uncertain about your re-entry ability. I turtled on re-entry from a small shore dump and wrecked all my reels and net. My k-lab...
