Re: Are we loosing the "brotherhood "??

like most have said the fluctuations in this sport are the same as most others so there will always be people around. i started fishing when i was a kid at Port Waikato. we had a 6ft dinghy i used in the estuary with limited success but also fished off the dunes and the surf etc. my dad had an old t...

Re: Retractable transducer in Viking tackle pod.

rather than split the conduit like you have. as you have stated the plumbing (waste) pipe you have is 32 ID whereas electrical conduit is 32 OD so the electrical duct should slide up inside the plumbing duct. just a thought :D nice setup

they came into being around the time i first started kayak fishing (about 10 years ago) only ever saw one and they were about the same price or more as the ocean kayaks that were starting to specialise the fishing kayak (elite 4.5). they were a shorter kayak under 4m if i recall right and as Mental ...

Re: Helix 7 troubles

unfortunately its been my experience that second hand fishfinders (regardless of how new they are) are more trouble than they are worth. never again will i buy a second hand ff. or put any value more than 0 on one. it may cost more to buy new but the piece of mind is well worth it

Re: Anchor rope

To be honest you can make one for about half that. And you don't need as heavy rope either. I use about 50 m of 2mm. You can get that at mitre 10 for about $5. Most expensive item is the chain.

Re: Reload side scan - sounders install tips and ideas

maybe something like a trailer jockey wheel lifter but not as heavy duty. wind it up when not in use and wind it down when out a bit. only need to drop it about 100 or 200mm. have the top of the pole level with the top of the pod and the winder folds down inside. alternately a telescopic rod of some...

Re: Jigging rod length?

i would say personal preference for length. i prefer a short rod (5 to 6 ft) for most of my fishing but my light rods (less than 3kg) i prefer a longer rod (7ft Plus). but probably more to the point would be rod action. fast or slow etc etc

Re: Kayaks and Gear Stolen

i would suspect that they took the trailer as a convienient way to get the house load of stuff away . they did the same thing when i got robbed many years ago. opened up my work van to load the house items in. lucky for me they were dumb f$%^s and used the key in the door and the alarm went off and ...

Re: Cleaning Fish At Orere Point

I also clean my fish at sea... pretty much as soon as i get them on board i gut and gill them. the difference in fillet quality is dramatic. the down side is (mainly with Kahawai) they tend to do a bit of a spasm and if you are not careful you can lose them when washing ;(

try YHI power supplies. we source batteries through them and they are about $24 for 9ah. we get a real good deal when we buy in bulk.
