Monthly Kayak Fishing Competition

Along the lines of the other online kayak fishing competitions we are starting New Zealand’s first national kayak fishing competition.

Our monthly kayak fishing competition is now sponsored by K-Labs and Bitetime Baits, the prizes, rods and soft baits, will be awarded to the chosen winner and runner up each month, the winners will be selected by public vote.

The Rules

Fish entered in the competition must be legal size, must be caught from a kayak, and caught within the current competition period

Photo showing fish must accompany the entry and where possible also show measuring device / fish measurement.

How to Enter

Fill in the following details for each entry and enter it in the relevant monthly forum thread along with the photo by the cut off date for that month (normally a couple of days into the next month).

Details which should be included with entries are as follows:-

Name / Username of Angler:
Fish Type:
Length:
Date/Time of Capture:
Location of Capture:
Type of Lure/Bait used:
Comments:

Competition Time Limit

Each month’s comp period will be from the day of the month until the last day of each month (inclusive).

This format includes a full month. You can get out as many times as you like within this time frame.

A new forum thread will be started for each competition for you to post your entry into.

Measuring Fish

Where possible each entry should be photographed on a measuring device to show the length of the fish, the length is measured from the tip of nose to the vee in the tail of the fish, i.e. the same way you measure the legal length of a fish, see example below.

In the future we hope to be able to supply a measuring device, the the meantime feel free to improvise.

How to Win

The person who is selected to have the best fish will be the winner, it does not need to be the heaviest/longest nor does it only apply to certain species, any fish caught from a kayak will qualify, this way anyone anywhere in the country will be able to win.

Using the system of selecting the winner as the best fish will give everyone a chance, remember selection will be based just as much on the background behind the capture as much as the fish itself… So it may pay to make yourself known to the other forum users as much as possible if you are a new member.

Judging

Judging of who caught the best fish will be by public poll. At the end of the competition period a poll will be run in the competition forum where each member can vote for the best fish.

Photo showing fish must accompany the entry and where possible also show measuring device / fish measurement.
