Comments:The day before caught my 1st snapper around the 2 kg mark , just after lunch on the final day i decided to clean the deck as it was covered in sh*t , surely if i throw out a big bait to soak it would give me time sort myself out relax and then wait for it to happen Yeah Right as soon as the bait hit the bottom in was on cheese scone !!!

Comments: Sorry there is not pic, funny story to that. Fished the King of the Bay comp on Waiheke Island today and as I am still learning softbaits I took bait as well. Landed 10+ kept 5 with 3 of them on softbaits so am happy with the day and happy with the softbaiting lessons. I took some snaps with my phone, tucked phone away and stated paddling home. Still new to kayak fishing and as such still new to reading waves. As you could figure out I was unable to read the surf and ended up having an impromptu dip in the ocean with kayak and everything else not attached rolling in the surf. Provided good amusement for the crowed beach and learnt a couple of good lessons – 1) strap everything down and 2) keep electronics in a dry bag (so no photo). Still you have to look on the bright side, tomorrow will be a quite day without the phone ringing
